This ongoing project entails visiting art galleries, often during the openings of exhibits, and exposing a petri dish to the air in the space. The cultures are grown and then photographed under a microscope yielding these results. The titles of the photographs are generated simply by the name of the artist, the gallery and the date.

Outside of a vacuum, empty space does not exist. Galleries attempt neurtrality with their white walls, but every visitor and every event which takes place in the space leaves its impression. Many thoughts, questions, reactions, criticisms, anxieties, jealousies are experienced in these spaces. I am investigating and making visible the memory of such moments. The air holds the microscopic mark of each event occurring in the space. We breath these in and leave them behind ourselves. Quite literally, I am culturing art (spaces) and documenting what grows.
